Green Tourism - Silver Award 2005

Peel Hey Country Guest House is pleased to be one of Merseysides 1st Green Tourism accommodation providers:

In an attempt to reduce energy and water consumption and conserve our natural resources we have recently adopted a Green Tourism policy.

Our strategic plan may take several years to fully implement but in the very short time that we have had our Green Policy in place, we have already made numerous fundamental changes in the way we conduct our business. For example we are recyling a very large proportion of our waste, glass, paper and card board, plastics and cans in addition to composting garden and kitchen waste.

We are also endeavouring to reduce energy consumption by the introduction of energy saving light bulbs, and timers on our water and heating systems.

In addition to the measures that we are taking, you as a visitor to Peel Hey may also wish to contribute to the conservation of the Planet by placing recylable items next to your bedroom bin. You may also wish to use public transport if possible, as we have a very good bus, train and ferry service in place.

Our future plans are to include the purchase of more recycled products, local produce and Fair Trades products. We also intend to supply leaflets detailing Wirral's many open spaces and countryside walks, with information about local wildlife, flora & fauna. We hope to also encourage wildlife back into our gardens by the introduction of a wild flower section of garden together with nest boxes and bird tables.
