Spectacular sunsets

Stunning Sunsets and picturesque villages:
These are a selection of the most spectacular sunsets that can be seen from the Wirral coastline.

From the promenade in West Kirby there are stunning views across to the Welsh shore, 5 miles away, to the Clwydian Hills. The changing light, broad vistas and sunsets, reflected in the mudflats and the sea, will leave you with memories that will last forever.

Feel the sea-breeze for yourself and get a sense of the space. The footpath, cycle-way and horse-ride of the renowned Wirral Way runs for 12 miles, from West Kirby to Hooton, following the route of the old railway.

Badgers and foxes can be found in Wirral Country Park, and a variety of birds nest in the dense hedges or feed on the berries in winter. In summer, the hedgerows are alive with butterflies. Head for the boulder clay cliffs and look out over the Dee Estuary and taste the "tang" of the salt and mud.

Wirral has a range of beautiful villages, set in idyllic locations, which offer a wealth of attractions and facilities for those requiring peace and relaxation.

Bidston
Imagine quiet pathways through heath and bracken, a windmill prominent on the skyline, a lighthouse with extensive views across the peninsula, an observatory, and cool walks through shady woods. This is Bidston - a literal treasure-chest of interest!

A few crofters' cottages still lie scattered about the slopes of Bidston Hill including the most famous, Tam O'Shanter. The building, now delightfully developed as an Urban Farm gives children and adults alike much enjoyment with its collection of animals (the farm is open seven days a week and admission is free!)
